Setting Up Jonas
Jonas Encore and Jonas Club Management do share some similarities but are fundamentally different when it comes to how Workstation IDs/Terminal Codes and printers are setup for use
Jonas Encore:
The only client that uses Jonas Encore is Linville Ridge Country Club
- Change the name of the machine you are working on to the correct name according to Jonas Encore Workstation names
- This tab can be found at the top of the page under Workstations
- If you are replacing a machine then give the new computer the same name as the old one you are replacing
- If you are needing the create a new Terminal Code you can either click New or select a pre-existing one and click Duplicate
- Duplicate is easiest if you are adding an additional machine to a restaurant
- Create a Terminal Code for the new workstation that follows the naming conventions of pre-existing setups
- Simply, your System/Workstation Name determines your Terminal Code, which gives your machine it's Sales Area, Chit Printer, and Layout
- These can all be viewed and edited by clicking the desired row and checking the details shown below the list of machines
- To view and edit printers go to System Setups on the left side of the screen and scroll down to Printers
- Here you can find the Printer Names of the printers you want to add to your machine
- You must add all PREP printers to your machine with generic/text only drivers and CHIT printers with the correct Epson drivers
- It must also be named the exact name it shows in the Printer Name column
- The IP address of the printers can be found on the server or on another machines that already has them installed
- If you need to change the IP address or check the configuration/status on a chit or prep printer then you can go to the server and open up EpsonNet Config where it displays a list of all Epson printers on the network
- The reason we add the printers with different drivers if for how they are formatted and how they cut from the printer itself
- Epson Drivers provide a smaller text size as well as a different font while the generic text drivers have a larger font and don't cut the paper correctly on the chit printers
- Please test the printers by starting a new chit on the workstation you setup, and selecting food from the hot side, cold side, and the bar
- Press the Print Chit button at the bottom of the page BEFORE hitting Send to test the chit printer, then hit Send to test the kitchen prep printers
- Lastly, void the chit and also check to see if the prep printers print the cancellation ticket
Jonas Club Management:
The clients that use Jonas Club Management are: Hound Ears Country Club, Beech Mountain Country Club, Lake Hickory Country Club, Balsam Mountain Preserve, and Green Park Inn
- Jonas Club Management does not look at your system name to determine your Terminal Code, instead it asks you what Workstation ID you are going to be using during the initial setup
- Another thing to note is that the printers are not to be added to local machine, everything prints through the server
- The installation file should be found at \\<servername>\Jonas\GJCWIN\TOOLS\ and you run the setup.exe
- Run EnableTLS12.reg, located in the same directory
- Run EtsTransVault_Net47_AnyCPU.exe, located in \\<servername>\Jonas\GJCWIN\SPECIAL\ETS3
- Before completing the setup you want to figure out what Workstation ID you are going to be using for your machine
- The list of Workstation IDs can be found by logging into Jonas then going to System Administration > System Setup > Workstation Setup and clicking the magnifying glass to the right of the Terminal ID
- If you are replacing a machine that was already running Jonas, then you can find the Workstation ID on the old machine by going to C:\GJCWIN\DATA and opening the JONAS.ini file
- If you are needing to create a new Workstation ID for a machine it is best to be able to have two separate machines or and RDP window on your current machine so that you can compare a current/active Workstation ID with the new one you are creating
- There is no easy way to duplicate a Workstation ID, unlike how the Terminal Codes work in Jonas Encore
- To create a new Workstation ID you typically type in a letter and a number (ex: M1), making sure that your naming scheme matches what is currently setup, in the Terminal ID box and press Enter
- This will make it so now you can edit the boxes that were grayed out before you put in a Terminal ID, then compare the configuration options for your new ID and whichever one you are comparing to best suit your needs
- To install the prep and chit printers on your new POS machine, go to File Explorer and go to \\<servername> and double click the printers to install them, usually they would be named Cold, Hot, Expo, and Bar for prep printers, then <location name> Chit for the appropriate chit printers
- If your chit printer is going to be setup with USB then make sure that in your Workstation Setup, for the correct Terminal ID, that the Nearest Printer is set to a Printer Style thar contains a Device/File Name of 'Default' or 'Chit on ESDPRT001'
- Please test the printers by starting a new chit on the workstation you setup, and firing food from the hot side, cold side, and the bar
- Press the Print Chit button at the bottom of the page BEFORE hitting Send to test the chit printer, then hit Send to test the kitchen prep printers
- Lastly, void the chit and also check to see if prep printers print the cancellation ticket
